Police Hunt Driver After Viral Wrong-Way Dash On Jalan Klang Lama

Date:

Authorities are actively tracking down a motorist caught on video driving against traffic along Jalan Klang Lama, following widespread circulation of the clip on social media.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department (TEID) chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa, said police were alerted to the incident at 11.38am and promptly initiated checks into the matter.

Preliminary findings indicate that the incident occurred at approximately 9.44am on April 5, involving a stretch of about 500 metres between the Jalan Klang Lama–Jalan Sepadu junction and the Jalan Klang Lama–Jalan Kuchai Lama intersection.

Despite the viral attention, he revealed that no official police report had been lodged through the complaint system as of now. Nonetheless, investigations are underway to identify both the driver and the vehicle involved.

In a wider context, such reckless driving incidents have raised ongoing concerns about road safety and public awareness, particularly in busy urban areas where traffic risks are significantly heightened.

Police are pursuing the case under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987, which covers dangerous driving offences. Efforts to locate the suspect remain ongoing.
