Date:

A 53-year-old male worker was found dead inside a locked cleaning equipment storeroom at the Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) Sport Bowl in the early hours of Tuesday.

The incident involving Mohd Radzi Ariffin was reported to the Tanjung Malim Fire and Rescue Station at approximately 1.57am.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department operations assistant director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said initial findings indicate that the victim had been trapped inside the locked room.

He added that the storeroom door had already been opened by UPSI auxiliary police before firefighters arrived, and the victim was later confirmed dead at the scene by the Ministry of Health (KKM).

Firefighters conducted a site assessment before applying the SAVER operational concept for monitoring purposes.

The victim’s body was subsequently handed over to the police for further action.

The operation, involving nine personnel, a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit, was fully concluded at 2.36am.
