Road Closures in Kuching for Street Parade 2025 Rehearsals and Event

Date:

Several roads in Kuching will be temporarily closed each evening from today until Saturday in conjunction with the Kuching Street Parade 2025, the Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) announced.

Tonight (Aug 12), Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg will be closed from 7pm for the first rehearsal until it ends.

Tomorrow and Thursday (Aug 13–14), road closures from 6pm will affect Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg, Jalan Main Bazaar, Jalan Wayang, Jalan Temple, and Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman.

On parade day (Saturday, Aug 16), closures will begin earlier at 4pm and remain until the event concludes.

Roads Affected on Parade Day

The closures will impact:

  • Bulatan Sri Aman and its exit to Jalan Padungan, plus the access route from Jalan Ban Hock.
  • Jalan Abell Utara, Jalan Abell–Jalan Petanak junction, Jalan Sungai Padungan, and Jalan Padungan traffic lights.
  • Access to Jalan Chan Chin Ann from Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Song Thian Cheok, Jalan Bukit Mata traffic lights, Jalan Borneo, and the Jalan Lebuh Wayang–Jalan Main Bazaar junction.
  • Areas near SK St Mary, including Jalan Temple, Jalan Lebuh Wayang, and Jalan Wawasan.
  • Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg from Jalan Main Bazaar and Jalan Satok (near RTM traffic lights), and Jalan McDougall.

DBKU urged road users to plan journeys in advance and take alternative routes to avoid congestion.

“We thank the public for their cooperation and invite everyone to come and enjoy the vibrant Kuching Street Parade 2025,” DBKU said.
