Disney Plans Up To 1,000 Job Cuts In Marketing Restructuring Drive

Date:

Walt Disney is expected to eliminate as many as 1,000 positions in the coming weeks, with a significant portion of the layoffs likely affecting its marketing division, according to a Wall Street Journal report.

Citing sources, the report said the restructuring plans were already in motion before Josh D’Amaro took over his new role as Disney chief executive in March.

The job reductions are expected to account for less than 1% of the company’s global workforce. Disney employed around 231,000 staff as of the end of fiscal year 2025.

Newly appointed Chief Marketing Officer Asad Ayaz is also reportedly leading an internal initiative to consolidate Disney’s marketing operations and reduce costs under a project codenamed “Project Imagine.” Ayaz began overseeing a newly formed company-wide marketing structure in January.

Reuters noted it could not immediately verify the report, while Disney has yet to respond to requests for comment outside normal business hours.
