Six Pakistani nationals have been arrested after allegedly being involved in a violent altercation that went viral on social media outside a grocery shop in Kampung Kubambang, Paitan, on Friday.

Beluran district police chief, Superintendent Hasan Majid, said authorities received a report regarding the incident at approximately 6.49pm. Initial investigations revealed that the confrontation took place earlier at around 4pm when a group of men approached the victim, who is also a Pakistani national, along the walkway of the shop.

He explained that the situation escalated from a misunderstanding into a heated argument before turning into a physical fight. The victim sustained head injuries and required seven stitches following the assault.

Following the incident and the circulation of a 29-second video clip online, police successfully tracked down and detained six individuals believed to be involved in the brawl.

Hasan added that a remand application would be made to facilitate further investigations under Section 148 of the Penal Code, which relates to rioting with weapons.
