Man Caught On CCTV Stealing Shoes And Dumping Them Down Rubbish Chute

Date:

A man was caught on CCTV allegedly stealing multiple pairs of shoes from outside a residential unit at a Woodlands Housing and Development Board (HDB) block before throwing them down a rubbish chute.

The incident reportedly took place along the common corridor of Woodlands Drive 73 on Friday (April 10) at around 6.05am, according to a Facebook post shared by resident Ridzwan Zuhaire Zuraime on the Complaint Singapore page.

CCTV footage shows a man wearing a black and yellow singlet, shorts and black gloves approaching the unit cautiously before scanning the surroundings. He is then seen taking four pairs of shoes from a rack outside the home.

The suspect subsequently runs down the corridor and is later seen disposing of the stolen footwear into a rubbish chute.

The resident said he had initially assumed the shoes were misplaced or accidentally left elsewhere, but later discovered the theft after reviewing surveillance footage.

He added that after posting the video online, at least two neighbours contacted him claiming they had also experienced similar incidents involving missing shoes.

In response to media queries, police confirmed that a report has been lodged and investigations into the case are currently ongoing.
