Snoop Dogg has revealed plans to collaborate with television mogul Simon Cowell on a new TV project, saying discussions about working together have been ongoing for more than a decade.
The 54-year-old rapper, who has developed strong ties in the UK and is a minority stakeholder in Swansea City AFC, said a potential meeting with Cowell could finally bring the long-mooted idea to life.
Speaking to the Sunday Mirror, Snoop described Cowell as “one of the great talent scouts of all time” and suggested the pair could create a show that brings audiences together, similar to the impact of past hit formats like The X Factor.
He noted that while television consumption has evolved significantly, there remains room for programmes that can capture widespread public attention and revive a shared viewing experience.
Snoop said scheduling conflicts had previously prevented the collaboration from happening, despite several near-misses over the years.
He also confirmed plans to meet Cowell during an upcoming trip to the UK, adding that he intends to discuss ideas over a casual meal.
The rapper said he believes the timing may now be right for a joint venture, hinting that he already has several concepts in mind but needs to pitch them directly to Cowell.
Snoop has previously expressed interest in talent-based television formats and was once offered a judging role on the US version of The X Factor, which he declined in favour of a mentoring position.
Separately, he dismissed comparisons with Hollywood actor Ryan Reynolds, who co-owns Wrexham AFC, stressing that there is no rivalry between them despite both being involved in football club ownership.
He said his ambitions for Swansea City are significant and that he is focused on building his own project rather than competing with others in the same space.
