A two-year-old girl endured a frightening ordeal after she was accidentally locked inside her mother’s car in front of a Pusat Asuhan Tunas Islam (PASTI) in Bandar Puncak Alam, Selangor, on Tuesday.
According to sources, the toddler was believed to have been trapped for nearly an hour after her mother stepped out of the vehicle to pick up another child at the premises.
Members of the public reportedly attempted to force open the car door but were unsuccessful, prompting them to contact the fire and rescue department for assistance.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department operations assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar said the department received an emergency call regarding the incident at 1.07pm.
He said five firefighters and one fire engine from the Sungai Buloh Fire and Rescue Station, located about 18 kilometres away, were dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, the team found the child still trapped inside the vehicle before successfully rescuing her using specialised equipment.
The operation was led by Senior Fire Officer I Rosdi Hainan along with four other personnel.
Authorities confirmed that the child did not suffer any injuries in the incident.
