A 24-year-old woman in Hyderabad, southern India, has reportedly died by suicide weeks after she was allegedly injected with HIV-positive blood by a man whose marriage proposal she had rejected.
According to local reports, the woman had been arranged to marry the accused, whose parents were also believed to be HIV-positive. Her family had requested medical testing in September 2025, which confirmed that the man was HIV-positive.

Following the diagnosis, the woman immediately called off the planned marriage. However, on March 11, 2026, the accused allegedly forced her and injected his HIV-infected blood into her.
Reports stated that the woman did not initially inform her family about the incident. She was taken to see a doctor the following day after experiencing severe body aches and a high fever.
The suspect was later arrested and placed under judicial remand as investigations began.
Nearly a month after the incident, the woman was found unresponsive at her home by her grandmother, who had returned from work. She was rushed to a government hospital but was pronounced dead by doctors.
Authorities believe the woman left behind a note apologising to her parents before taking her own life.
