Local actress He Ying Ying, 31, has recently purchased her first apartment, marking a major milestone in her personal life.
In an Instagram post, she was seen celebrating the occasion by rolling a pineapple in her new home, a gesture often associated with good fortune and prosperity. She also expressed excitement about transforming the space into a place she can truly call her own.
Speaking to Lianhe Zaobao, He shared that she had never lived alone before, including during her university years, making this her first real experience of independent living. She said it was something she had always wanted to try.
Describing herself as decisive, the actress revealed that her house-hunting journey was smooth, taking only about two months before she found a property she liked.
When asked about the cost, she laughed and admitted that after paying the down payment, she suddenly felt “very poor”. She also said it made her reconsider travel plans during her downtime due to new financial commitments.
He added that the purchase was a significant personal milestone.
“This is the biggest purchase I’ve ever made. Previously, it might have been a car, but the scale is completely different,” she said.
She shared that she had never fully understood what it meant to be an adult until now, adding that owning her own home made her feel more independent and ready for the next stage of life.
The new apartment is located about a 10-minute drive from her parents’ home, and she plans to move in with her three cats.
He Ying Ying was first discovered while studying on campus and later participated in Mediacorp’s talent scouting competition Hey Gorgeous in 2015, where she finished among the top three contestants.
