UMNO Youth of Kangar division has lodged a police report following controversy surrounding the alleged display of the word “Allah” inside a temple located within a hardware shop premises in Seriab.

Its chief, Saiful Fariddil Jasmi, said the group received a complaint along with photographic evidence before heading to the location to seek clarification from the shop owner. Upon meeting, the owner reportedly admitted to the matter and issued an apology.

He stressed that the incident is being treated seriously as it touches on the sanctity of the word “Allah” and the sensitivities of the Muslim community. According to him, such actions are inappropriate and risk causing unease and anger among Muslims, especially in a multiracial and multireligious society like Malaysia.

In response, UMNO Youth Kangar proceeded to file a police report to ensure that authorities carry out a thorough investigation into the matter. He urged that appropriate legal provisions be applied to prevent similar incidents from recurring in the future.

The issue has sparked widespread attention after images and videos showing the alleged inscription inside the temple went viral on social media, drawing mixed reactions from netizens and residents in the state. Incidents involving religious sensitivities often highlight the need for greater awareness and mutual respect among different communities.

Saiful also called on all parties to remain mindful of religious sensitivities and to uphold harmony, emphasising that respect across faiths is crucial in maintaining peace and unity in the country.
