A middle-aged man suffered severe finger injuries after being unable to remove a ring from his right ring finger, resulting in swelling, muscle necrosis, and a wound so deep that the bone was exposed.
The 54-year-old man sought urgent medical help at Kajang Hospital in Selangor around 11pm last night due to extreme pain. Doctors at the hospital were unable to remove the ring, prompting them to call in the fire and rescue team for assistance.
According to Christopher, head of the Selangor Fire and Rescue operations unit, firefighters arrived at the hospital and found the steel ring firmly stuck on the man’s swollen finger. After the man was given local anesthesia, the rescue team carefully began cutting the ring.
The delicate operation, which started at 11:15pm, lasted until 1:51am, taking nearly three hours to complete. Christopher explained that the thickness of the steel ring, combined with the swelling of the finger, required the team to proceed with extreme caution to prevent further injury.
