Five Malaysians were reportedly detained by Israeli authorities after two vessels involved in the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF 2.0) humanitarian mission were intercepted in the Mediterranean Sea earlier today.
According to information shared through the Sumud Nusantara Tracker, the two boats — identified as Cactus and Furleto — were believed to have been stopped while en route to participate in a humanitarian aid mission to Gaza.
Two Malaysians onboard the Cactus vessel were identified as Mohammad Shazly Mohammad Shees and Tengku Ahmad Taufik Tengku Noor Zahari.
Meanwhile, the three Malaysians travelling on the Furleto vessel were identified as Patmanathan Sivasamy, Muhammad Amirul Afif Mohd Azhar and Syakirin Muhamed Senin.
The update also included screenshots from a vessel tracking system allegedly showing both boats marked as intercepted and attacked.
At the time of writing, no official statement had been issued by the Sumud Nusantara Command Center (SNCC) regarding the condition or status of the Malaysians involved.
The humanitarian flotilla mission was reportedly aimed at delivering aid and showing solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza amid the ongoing regional conflict.
