A mother has expressed outrage after her child came home in tears, claiming that a teacher physically assaulted him during class. According to the mother’s post on Threads, the teacher allegedly slapped the children’s heads, twisted their ears, and even forced them to bang their heads together after a dispute broke out between her child and another student.
The mother recounted that her child returned home crying, saying he was punished harshly in class. Shocked, she asked calmly what had happened. The child explained that while completing schoolwork, he was chatting with a classmate when suddenly another student hit him on the head. Angered, he demanded, “Why did you hit me?”
That was when the teacher, who was reportedly scrolling on her phone, lost control of his temper. He allegedly struck both children on the head, twisted their ears, and forced their heads into each other. The children were so frightened that they cried uncontrollably—one was even so terrified that he wet his school uniform.
The mother said she felt furious and disappointed after hearing the story. While she initially wanted to confront the teacher, her child begged her not to, fearing retaliation or being targeted further at school.
She admitted that she, too, had faced corporal punishment in her student years—such as being caned or made to stand as discipline—but emphasized that what her child experienced was far more extreme. “This is no longer about discipline. My child came home crying in pain, saying his head still hurt,” she wrote, adding that her child also had to sit for an upcoming assessment exam (UPKK).
The post sparked debate online, with some parents sharing similar experiences. One user recalled how a teacher once hit his child’s head with a songkok (traditional Malay cap), leaving the cap bent and the child bruised. He lodged a complaint with the school principal, though he admitted his child was later somewhat sidelined by the teacher.
However, other netizens urged caution, saying parents should hear both sides. “Sometimes children exaggerate. The story of a teacher banging two kids’ heads together sounds unbelievable. Teachers nowadays also don’t want to risk being sued. Maybe things aren’t as one-sided as they seem,” one wrote.
The debate continues, with the mother asking: “If you were in my shoes, what would you do?”
