This morning, four suspects linked to the “burglary that killed a corporal” case appeared at the Alor Setar Magistrate’s Court.
Police were heavily deployed, using multiple patrol vehicles and special task force officers from the D9 Serious Crime Unit to escort the suspects to court.
The convoy arrived at the court at 8:35 a.m., with the four suspects covering their faces with clothing or keeping their heads low to avoid media cameras.
Family members of the suspects were also present at the courthouse, shouting out names or calling “dad” upon seeing them, with some children crying, causing temporary chaos at the scene.
The four suspects are expected to be charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
The incident occurred on August 7, when the suspects broke into a home in Alor Setar. While attempting to steal a safe, police arrived at the scene. In their bid to escape, the suspects hit a disembarking corporal, resulting in his death from severe head and back injuries.
During the escape, three of the suspects hijacked a car carrying an elderly woman before crashing and being apprehended. The corporal’s tragic death leaves behind his wife and three sons, aged 4, 9, and 11.
