Police Investigate Claims Of Physical Contact During City Event

Date:

Johor police have opened an investigation paper into allegations that a woman was shoved by a group of individuals dressed in black, resulting in physical contact during a gathering held in the city on Sunday.

Johor Acting Police Chief Deputy Commissioner Hoo Chuan Huat said police received a report at 2.16pm on Tuesday from a 32-year-old local woman.

He said the complainant claimed she was pushed by a group of individuals dressed in black, leading to physical contact during the event.

“The incident also went viral after media coverage and several video recordings of the incident were uploaded on social media,” he said in a statement on Tuesday night.

Police are currently conducting further investigations, and several witnesses will be called to assist in the probe.

Members of the public have been advised not to make any speculation or comments that could interfere with the investigation process.

At the same time, police are urging anyone with information on the incident to come forward and contact the nearest police station or the Johor Police Hotline at 019-2792095, or the Johor Contingent Police Headquarters Operations Room at 07-2212999.

Earlier, the Johor Media Club (KMJ) expressed regret over an incident involving commotion and alleged interference against media personnel while covering the Pakatan Harapan (PH) convention in the city on Sunday.

KMJ said the incident occurred while media personnel from Johor and Kuala Lumpur were carrying out their reporting duties and attempting to obtain responses from party leaders.

Following the incident, KMJ confirmed that a police report had been lodged at the Johor Bahru Central Police Station on Tuesday.
