Boy Chases Mother’s Car After Being Left Behind at School — Police Probe Viral Video

Date:

Police have sought assistance from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to trace and identify the Facebook user who uploaded a video showing a child running after his mother’s car.

Serdang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Farid, told the media that an official request has been submitted to MCMC.

“The police have applied for the Facebook user’s details, and MCMC is currently processing the request,” he said, adding that statements from two individuals have already been recorded as part of the ongoing investigation.

Earlier reports confirmed that a 37-year-old housewife lodged a police report regarding the video.

According to the footage, the incident took place around 12 p.m. on August 21 near a primary school in Seri Kembangan. The woman had gone there to pick up her twin children but, after making a U-turn, realized one of the children was not inside the car.

“She immediately stopped the car upon noticing her son chasing from behind,” police said.

The case is being investigated under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code, Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, and Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001.
