Datuk Seri Farhash, former political secretary to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar, has demanded an apology from PKR Bandar MP Dato’ Seri Mohd Rafizi bin Ramli after the latter allegedly linked him to an attack on Rafizi’s son.
Rafizi confirmed today that he had received a legal notice last Friday (22 August) from Farhash’s lawyers, instructing him to stop repeating claims made on social media on 20 August.
The notice stated that Rafizi’s allegations were false and had seriously harmed Farhash’s reputation by implying his involvement in the attack. Farhash’s lawyers said Rafizi posted the claims maliciously while the police investigation was ongoing and failed to take reasonable steps to avoid defaming him.
The notice demanded Rafizi remove all related posts and publicly retract and apologize for the statements within two days.
Rafizi, however, insists his statements are accurate and said he is ready to defend himself in court now that the two-day deadline has passed. “If Farhash decides to take legal action, this will involve a matter of public interest, and my lawyer will have the opportunity to raise all longstanding questions,” he said.
On 20 August, Rafizi had posted on social media denying any involvement by former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail or former Health Minister Khairy in the incident. He said his aim was to divert attention from the real culprits.
Rafizi also revealed that a week before the attack, he had met with an informant regarding a scandal he was investigating. The informant provided information related to Farhash and transactions involving his companies.
The stabbing incident occurred on 13 August at around 1:00 p.m., when Rafizi’s 12-year-old son, accompanied by his mother and driver, was attacked with a syringe at a Putrajaya shopping mall drop-off area. Rafizi’s wife reportedly received a threatening message in the early hours of 22 August.
