The General Operations Force (PGA) seized suspected mushroom-based drugs worth more than RM762,000 after arresting a man in Kok Lanas recently.
The 32-year-old suspect was detained at around 6pm on May 18 following intelligence gathering and surveillance conducted by the intelligence branch of Battalion 7 PGA.
Southeast Brigade PGA commander Ahmad Radzi Hussain said officers spotted a man standing by the roadside beside a motorcycle during the operation.
“During the inspection, the suspect handed over a plastic bag containing five transparent plastic bottles filled with liquid believed to contain mushroom-type drugs,” he said in a media statement today.
Following initial questioning, the suspect later led police to a second location at a house in Kampung Wakaf Stan.
Further inspections at the premises uncovered an additional 50.4 litres of liquid believed to be mushroom-based drugs, along with a mobile phone.
Authorities estimated the total value of the seizure at RM762,000.
The suspect and all confiscated items were later handed over to the Kota Bharu district police headquarters for further investigation.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
The successful raid is believed to be part of ongoing efforts by enforcement agencies to curb the distribution of synthetic and emerging drug substances in the country.
