A nine-year-old boy was found dead after allegedly falling from the 13th floor of a residential building in Taman Cahaya Ampang on Sunday evening.
Ampang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Khairul Anuar Khalid said authorities received information regarding the incident from a local woman at approximately 7.45pm.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the child had fallen from the 13th floor of the building and was found unconscious upon discovery.
“The victim was later pronounced dead at the scene by a medical assistant from Ampang Hospital at approximately 7.42pm,” Khairul Anuar said in a statement on Monday.
Early findings indicate that the boy was believed to have been alone at the time of the incident.
Police have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragedy, while officers continue gathering information from witnesses and family members.
A post-mortem examination was conducted at Ampang Hospital at 9am on Monday to establish the exact cause of death.
Khairul Anuar said the case is currently being investigated under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001.
