Chief Justice Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh led the list of distinguished recipients honoured during the 2026 Federal Awards, Medals and Honours investiture ceremony held at Istana Negara in conjunction with the Official Birthday of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia.
The 63-year-old Chief Justice was the sole recipient of the prestigious Darjah Seri Setia Mahkota (SSM), which carries the title “Tun”. He became the country’s 17th Chief Justice after assuming office on July 28 last year.
The awards were presented by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim in a ceremony attended by Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia. The event recognised individuals who have made significant contributions to the nation across various sectors.
National cycling icon Datuk Mohd Azizulhasni Awang received the Darjah Bakti (DB), Malaysia’s highest federal honour, in recognition of his remarkable achievements in track cycling and his role in elevating the country’s reputation on the international stage.
Three prominent figures were awarded the Darjah Panglima Mangku Negara (PMN), which carries the title “Tan Sri”. They were Chief of Defence Force Gen Datuk Seri Malek Razak Sulaiman, Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail, and Country Garden Pacificview Sdn Bhd Executive Director Datuk Dr Daing A Malek Daing A Rahaman.
Meanwhile, 12 recipients were conferred the Darjah Johan Mangku Negara (JMN), including Putrajaya Corporation President Datuk Mohd Sakeri Abdul Kadir, Kuala Lumpur Hospital’s Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department head Dr Kok Tuck Choon, National Unity and Integration Department Director-General Zulkifli Hashim, and Selayang Hospital consultant paediatrician Dr Tang Swee Ping.
The Johan Setia Mahkota (JSM) was awarded to 11 individuals, among them Air Accident Investigation Bureau Chief Inspector Brig Gen Tan Chee Kee, Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry Deputy Director-General of Enforcement (Operations) Shamsul Nizam Khalil, and consultant radiologist Dr Laili Suriani Ab Latip from Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital.
Foreign Ministry Policy Planning and Coordination Department Director-General Datuk Shariffah Norhana Syed Mustaffa was among the recipients of the Darjah Johan Setia Diraja (JSD). Former national badminton star and Rio 2016 Olympic silver medallist Goh Liu Ying was also recognised as one of 10 recipients of the Kesatria Mangku Negara (KMN).
The Bintang Kesatria Setia Diraja (KSD) was presented to Col Sheikh Ali Ahmad, aide-de-camp to the Sultan of Johor, and DSP Liyana Mohd Toff, aide-de-camp to the Permaisuri of Johor.
In addition, 28 individuals received the Ahli Mangku Negara (AMN), 42 were awarded the Pingat Pangkuan Negara (PPN), while 15 recipients were honoured with the Pingat Bentara Setia Diraja (BSD).
A total of 161 individuals received Federal Awards, Honours and Medals this year, reflecting their contributions and service to the nation as part of the Official Birthday celebrations of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim.
