Reject Rukun Negara, Not Worthy Of Being Called Malaysian, Says King

Date:

His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, has called on all Malaysians to uphold and practise the principles of the Rukun Negara, stressing that it remains a vital foundation for national unity and harmony.

Speaking at the investiture ceremony held in conjunction with His Majesty’s official birthday celebration at Istana Negara on Monday, the King said the Rukun Negara represents a collective pledge by Malaysians to preserve peace and strengthen relationships among the nation’s diverse communities.

Sultan Ibrahim reminded citizens that the national philosophy, introduced on Aug 31, 1970, was created to foster unity and guide the country towards a more stable and harmonious future.

His Majesty urged every Malaysian to embrace the values enshrined in the Rukun Negara and apply them in their daily lives, regardless of background, race or religion.

“The Rukun Negara must not merely be recited but understood and practised as a way of life. It serves as an important guide for maintaining unity and mutual respect among Malaysians,” the King said.

Sultan Ibrahim also delivered a firm message, stating that any individual who refuses to accept or adhere to the principles of the Rukun Negara is not deserving of being regarded as a Malaysian citizen.

The ceremony was also attended by Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia.
