Police Hunt Gang Behind Housebreakings In Manjung

Date:

Police are tracking down a group of Indonesian nationals believed to be involved in a series of robbery and housebreaking cases around Ayer Tawar and Pekan Gurney in Manjung.

Manjung District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Hasbullah Abd Rahman said police have received eight reports so far involving incidents targeting houses located in secluded and forest-edge areas.

He said the group is believed to consist of three to four suspects who are actively moving between locations to avoid detection.

In one of the reported cases, the suspects allegedly broke into a house in Pekan Gurney, where they threatened a woman in her 40s with a machete before escaping with cash and jewellery valued at about RM10,000.

Police have urged residents in the affected areas to tighten home security measures, including installing CCTV systems and avoiding keeping large amounts of cash at home to reduce the risk of becoming targets.

Authorities are also appealing to members of the public with information on the suspects to contact the Manjung District Police Headquarters or nearby police stations to assist in ongoing investigations.
