Police are on the hunt for an unidentified individual dressed in dark robes who was captured on CCTV climbing a fence and stealing clothes from a terrace house in Taman Cheras Indah, Ampang Jaya.
Ampang Jaya District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Khairul Anuar Khalid said authorities became aware of the viral video at about 5pm yesterday.
He said police received a report from a 31-year-old woman on the same day after she discovered that clothing she had left to dry outside her home was missing.
According to him, the complainant only realised the incident at about 10am while she was at home, before checking CCTV footage which showed the suspect climbing over the fence into her compound.
The footage reportedly shows the individual, wearing dark robes, entering the premises and taking clothes from the drying area before leaving the scene. No other items were reported missing.
Police said investigations are ongoing, with efforts underway to identify and locate the suspect.
The case is being investigated under Section 379 and Section 447 of the Penal Code for theft and criminal trespass.
