20-Year-Old Chef Dies After Refrigerator Explode In Hotel Kitchen

Date:

A 20-year-old hotel chef in India has died after a refrigerator reportedly exploded inside a commercial kitchen, triggering a tragic workplace accident that has shocked the local community.

The incident occurred at around 3pm on June 3 at a well-known hotel in Rajkot, Gujarat. According to reports, the refrigerator suddenly ruptured without warning while staff were working nearby.

CCTV footage reportedly shows the explosion tearing through the appliance and sending debris flying across the kitchen. The young chef, identified as Arvind Singh Sisodia, was standing with his back to the refrigerator when he was struck by fragments and seriously injured.

Colleagues rushed to his aid and transported him to hospital, but doctors were unable to save him. He later succumbed to his injuries.

Sisodia, originally from Rajasthan, was said to be the eldest son in his family. He had recently moved to Rajkot in search of work to help support his parents and improve his family’s financial situation. Reports indicate he had only been employed at the hotel for about a month before the fatal incident.

Authorities quickly sealed off the area and launched an investigation into the cause of the explosion. Preliminary findings suggest that a refrigerant cylinder inside the refrigerator may have ruptured under pressure, triggering the blast.

Investigators are also examining whether a gas leak in the kitchen may have contributed to the incident or caused a secondary explosion. Forensic experts and technical specialists have been tasked with determining the exact sequence of events.

The tragedy has sparked widespread concern over safety standards in commercial kitchens, with many calling for a thorough investigation into the hotel’s maintenance practices and workplace safety procedures. Some members of the public have also urged authorities to ensure the victim’s family receives appropriate compensation if negligence is found.
