Former Pengkalan Kundor ADUN Found Drowned In River

Former Pengkalan Kundor state assemblyman Datuk Mohd Jamil Md Idross, 78, was found drowned in a river near Kampung Teluk Bagan early this morning.

The incident was reported to the Fire and Rescue Department at 7.50am, prompting a team of five firefighters from the Jalan Raja Fire and Rescue Station to be deployed to the scene.

Jalan Raja Fire and Rescue Station chief Assistant Fire Superintendent Wan Azizul Hakim Wan Jaafar said that upon arrival, rescuers were informed by members of the public that a man was believed to have fallen into the river.

He said search operations were carried out on the water surface around the area where the victim was believed to have gone missing.

The victim was found at 8.05am and brought to the riverbank at 8.18am.

He was confirmed dead at the scene and the body was handed over to police for further action.

The operation, which also involved two Royal Malaysia Police personnel, was concluded at 9.11am.

Checks by BH confirmed that the deceased served as the Pengkalan Kundor state assemblyman for two terms under UMNO-Barisan Nasional from 1995 to 1999 and 2004 to 2008.
