Just as Malaysians were coming to terms with the retirement of beloved LRT Wangsa Maju station cat Cantik, another feline has unexpectedly stepped into the spotlight.
A chubby cat spotted lounging at the station has gone viral on social media, with many jokingly declaring him the new “boss” of LRT Wangsa Maju.
The feline first caught attention after a Threads user shared photos of the cat relaxing comfortably beside a wall at the station.
“First time meeting the new Boss at LRT Wangsa Maju station,” the user wrote in the post.
The photos showed the cat stretched out on the floor, appearing completely relaxed and unbothered by the steady flow of commuters passing by.
His calm demeanour and impressive size quickly captured the attention of social media users.
Many netizens flooded the comments section with playful remarks, with several describing the cat as handsome, confident and exceptionally well-fed.
One user joked that the cat looked like he had already finished his workday and was enjoying a well-earned break, while another described him as a “handsome chonky boss”.
Others humorously suggested that commuters should avoid disturbing him because “the boss needs his rest.”
The sighting comes shortly after widespread public attention surrounding Cantik, the long-time station cat whose recent health concerns sparked a community-led effort to secure a more comfortable retirement.
As a result, many social media users could not resist drawing comparisons between the two felines.
Some jokingly speculated that the newcomer had officially inherited Cantik’s role at the station.
Others playfully suggested that Cantik may have personally entrusted him with watching over her territory before stepping away from station life.
One commenter shared that they had also spotted the cat at LRT Wangsa Maju but were disappointed not to see Cantik during their visit.
While the identity of the new feline remains unknown, that has not stopped Malaysians from embracing him as the station’s latest celebrity.
Whether he becomes a permanent fixture at LRT Wangsa Maju or simply enjoys occasional visits, one thing is clear — the station’s feline legacy appears to be alive and well.
