European Powers Signal Readiness To Lift Sanctions On Iran Following US Deal

Date:

The United Kingdom, France, Germany and Italy — have signalled their willingness to ease sanctions on Iran if Tehran takes concrete steps regarding its nuclear programme following a recent agreement with the United States aimed at ending hostilities between the two countries.

In a joint statement issued on Sunday, the four European nations reiterated their commitment to preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons while expressing support for diplomatic efforts to ensure compliance.

“Iran must never acquire a nuclear weapon. We stand ready to work with the United States, Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to this end,” the statement said.

The announcement comes after Washington and Tehran reportedly reached a deal designed to bring an end to their conflict, raising hopes for a broader diplomatic breakthrough and improved regional stability.

European leaders indicated that sanctions relief could be considered if Iran demonstrates meaningful progress and cooperation regarding its nuclear activities under international oversight.

The move signals a potential shift towards renewed engagement between Western powers and Iran, with the IAEA expected to play a central role in monitoring any future commitments and ensuring transparency.

Analysts say the development could pave the way for further negotiations on Iran’s nuclear programme while reducing tensions that have strained relations between Tehran and Western nations for years.

However, the E4 leaders stressed that any easing of sanctions would remain conditional on Iran meeting its obligations and maintaining full compliance with international nuclear safeguards.
