A motorcyclist was killed in a multi-vehicle crash after he was thrown into oncoming traffic and struck by two other vehicles in Jalan Tasek Gelugor, yesterday.
The victim, Muhammad Arif Taufek, 27, a electrical technician, was confirmed dead at the scene due to severe injuries.
Seberang Perai Utara district police chief ACP Anuar Abdul Rahman said the incident occurred around 7.05pm when the victim’s motorcycle, travelling from Padang Serai towards Tasek Gelugor, collided with the rear right side of a Mitsubishi Pajero.
He said the SUV, driven by a 55-year-old man, was believed to have emerged from a junction and turned right at the time of the crash.
“As a result of the impact, the victim was thrown into the opposite lane where he was hit by two other vehicles driven by a 21-year-old and a 23-year-old respectively,” he said.
All three drivers involved were uninjured.
Anuar said a post-mortem was carried out at the Forensic Unit of Kepala Batas Hospital before the body was released to the family for burial arrangements.
