A bus driver suffered a head injury while 32 college students escaped unharmed after a bus carrying them skidded off the road in an incident near Kulim Hi-Tech Park (KHTP) on Wednesday morning.
The accident occurred at about 7.35am along Lebuh KTC, on the route from Taman KTC1 towards KHTP, causing concern among road users and the students travelling to their college.
Kulim district police chief Superintendent Syamsul Sinring said the driver, who is in his 40s, sustained injuries to his head and was rushed to Hospital Kulim for further treatment.
Fortunately, all 32 students from a skills college in KHTP were reported safe and did not suffer any injuries despite the frightening incident.
“The injured driver was taken to hospital, while the students were transported to their college using vans arranged after the accident,” he said.
Initial investigations indicate that the bus is believed to have lost control and skidded on its own before veering into the opposite lane.
The incident highlights the importance of road safety, especially during the morning rush when students and workers are travelling to their destinations.
Police have launched further investigations to determine the exact cause of the accident and whether any external factors contributed to the bus losing control.
Authorities have urged motorists to remain cautious and observe road safety measures to help prevent similar incidents on busy routes around the district.
