A family of three, including a four-year-old girl, were injured after a flat unit they were living in caught fire in Taman Air Biru, Johor, late last night.
The incident, which occurred at about 9.26pm, involved a 30-year-old man, his 28-year-old wife, and their young daughter.
The Johor Fire and Rescue Department Operations Centre received an emergency call at the same time before firefighters from the Pasir Gudang Fire and Rescue Station were dispatched to the scene.
Operations Commander PBK I Faisal Ismail said firefighters arrived within minutes with a team of 10 personnel, supported by a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) and Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit.
Upon arrival, firefighters confirmed that a fire had broken out at a third-floor unit in Block 14 of the housing area.
Preliminary investigations found that the fire is believed to have started due to a leak involving liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from a hose connection.
The fire destroyed about 50 per cent of the affected unit.
A male occupant suffered severe burn injuries to both hands and partial burns to both legs, while the woman sustained injuries and bleeding to the forehead while escaping the fire.
Their four-year-old daughter also suffered burns on her right toe.
All three victims managed to escape the unit before firefighters arrived, while the blaze was fully brought under control at 10.32pm before operations were concluded shortly after.
