Police are tracking down the driver of a Perodua Kembara who allegedly fled the scene after driving recklessly and causing a crash involving a car and a motorcycle on the Federal Highway on June 20.
Petaling Jaya District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Shamsudin Mamat said the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division of the Petaling Jaya District Police Headquarters (IPD) became aware of the incident after a video of the crash went viral on social media on Sunday.
According to police, the accident occurred at about 6.10pm as the Perodua Kembara, believed to have been driven by a 59-year-old Malaysian man, was travelling from Shah Alam towards Kuala Lumpur.
Investigators believe the vehicle was being driven dangerously before it collided with a car and a motorcycle. The motorcyclist sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Police have classified the case under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which relates to reckless and dangerous driving.
Authorities are now working to locate the driver and are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

The incident serves as another reminder of the dangers of reckless driving and the legal consequences of fleeing the scene of a traffic accident.
