Semerak Drug Syndicate Busted, Man Arrested With 600 Yaba Pills In PGA Raid

Date:

A suspected drug dealer believed to have been active for three years, including supplying narcotics to fishermen, has been arrested after authorities seized 600 yaba pills in Kampung Haji Wan Omar, Semerak, yesterday afternoon.

The 31-year-old suspect was detained during a raid conducted by Battalion 8 of the General Operations Force (PGA) under Op Taring Wawasan at about 4.30pm, following intelligence-led surveillance in the area.

According to PGA Eastern Brigade Commander Senior Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Radzi Hussain, officers raided an unoccupied shed during the operation, where they discovered a transparent plastic package containing the pills, valued at approximately RM6,000.

He said initial investigations revealed that the suspect admitted ownership of the drugs but refused to disclose the source of supply or how the narcotics were obtained. Authorities also believe the suspect has been involved in distribution activities for several years alongside an accomplice.

The suspect is believed to have been distributing the drugs to fishermen and local residents in Tok Bali, raising concerns over the spread of narcotics within the coastal community.

Ahmad Radzi said enforcement efforts will be continuously intensified to track down other individuals believed to be part of the drug distribution network, in a bid to dismantle the syndicate and curb drug-related crimes in the area.

All seized items and the suspect have been handed over to the Pasir Puteh District Police Headquarters for further investigation.
