Bersatu Reaffirms Full Support For PN Candidates In Johor Polls

Date:

Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) has reiterated that its stance remains aligned with the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition, stressing that it will continue to support all candidates contesting under the PN banner in the Johor State Election (PRN Johor), rather than Barisan Nasional (BN).

Bersatu Information Chief Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz said there has been no formal decision made by the PN Supreme Council instructing any support for rival parties or the Unity Government.

“To date, there is no policy decision or directive from the PN Supreme Council instructing any candidate contesting under the PN logo not to be supported,” he said in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

He added that there is also no official decision directing support towards BN or the Unity Government, stressing that Bersatu’s position remains clear and consistent in backing all candidates under the PN banner.

Tun Faisal said all component parties within PN should focus on strengthening the coalition’s overall position in the Johor election, in line with the spirit of cooperation within the alliance.

He said the objective of contesting under PN is to maximise victories for the coalition as a whole, rather than prioritising individual parties in a way that could weaken other PN candidates.

“If there are actions that cause PN candidates to lose votes or reduce their chances of winning, that is not in the spirit of a coalition and could be seen as sabotaging collective efforts,” he said.

He added that PN contests as a single political entity using one common symbol, rather than as separate parties operating independently.

Previously, PAS had reportedly instructed its members and supporters to back BN candidates in constituencies not contested by PN.

The Johor State Election, set for July 11, sees PN contesting 33 seats, with PAS fielding 11 candidates, Bersatu 16, MIPP five, and Pejuang one, out of a total of 56 state seats.
