Two Arrested For Drink Driving, One For Drugs In Highway Crackdown

Three local men, aged between 30 and 50, were arrested during an integrated operation conducted along the Samarahan Expressway between midnight and 3am on Friday.

In a statement posted on its official Facebook page, the Kota Samarahan District Police Headquarters said two of the suspects were detained for driving under the influence of alcohol, while another was arrested on suspicion of drug use.

Police said the two men, aged 30 and 50, tested positive for alcohol using the SD2+ screening device and were arrested under Section 45A(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Meanwhile, a 33-year-old man was detained separately after allegedly testing positive for drugs and is being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Authorities said the integrated operation also involved checks on 85 vehicles and screening of 88 individuals along the expressway.

A total of 29 summonses were issued for various traffic offences during the enforcement exercise.
