A factory worker escaped with minor injuries after falling about nine metres inside a cement factory in the Tasek Industrial Area, Ipoh, on Friday.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the department received an emergency call at 4.50pm, with firefighters from the Ipoh Fire and Rescue Station arriving at the scene six minutes later.
He said the 23-year-old victim suffered minor injuries and a sprained leg after falling from the top of a cement silo onto the roof before landing inside the factory building.
According to initial findings, the worker was carrying out repair work on top of the silo when the incident occurred.
The operation commander conducted an initial assessment before deploying the SAVER (Systematic Approach for Victim Extrication and Rescue) method to safely evacuate the victim.
Firefighters carried and assisted the injured worker down before handing him over to a Ministry of Health medical team.
The victim was later transported to hospital by ambulance for further treatment, while the rescue operation concluded at 6.26pm.
