PM Anwar Calls For Bold Leadership In Johor Ahead Of State Election

Date:

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called for stronger and more decisive leadership in Johor, saying elected representatives must be bold in decision-making and closely attuned to the needs of the people.

The Pakatan Harapan chairman said lawmakers must be able to properly assess issues on the ground and understand the concerns and aspirations of local communities.

He added that PH remains committed to carrying the voice of the people, defending Johor’s interests, and developing the state into a more progressive and advanced region.

The statement was shared via his official Facebook page ahead of the upcoming Johor state election scheduled for July 11, with early voting set for July 7.

A total of 2,727,926 voters are eligible to cast their ballots, including ordinary voters as well as military and police personnel together with their spouses.

Meanwhile, PH has unveiled its election manifesto, outlining its long-term vision to transform Johor into a regional technology hub inspired by Shenzhen in China.

The plan includes positioning Johor as a “Shenzhen of Southeast Asia”, reflecting its ambition to attract high-value industries and accelerate economic growth.

Among the key proposals is a programme to encourage the return of 20,000 professionals working in Singapore back to Johor by 2031, alongside a proposed public health insurance scheme offering coverage of up to RM100,000 for 500,000 residents, particularly from the B40 and M40 groups.
