A 38-year-old woman was injured after her leg became trapped beneath a car that allegedly rolled forward unexpectedly while she was opening the gate to her home in Dataran Pengkalan Barat 2, Taman Temara on Friday afternoon.
According to the Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), emergency responders received a distress call at 3.39pm, prompting a team from the Pasir Puteh Fire and Rescue Station to rush to the scene.
Assistant Director of Operations Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said firefighters arrived just four minutes later and found the woman pinned by the leg beneath a Proton Wira.
Initial investigations indicated that the vehicle’s engine had already been started before it suddenly moved forward while the victim was opening the front gate of her house. The unexpected movement caused her to fall, leaving her trapped underneath the vehicle.
Members of the public attempted to free the woman before firefighters arrived but were unsuccessful.
After assessing the situation using the department’s SAVER rescue procedure, firefighters deployed specialised equipment, including an air lifting bag and a hydraulic cutter, to lift the vehicle and safely extricate the victim.
The woman was successfully rescued and was found to have suffered injuries to her leg. She was later handed over to personnel from the Ministry of Health (MOH) for further medical treatment.
The rescue operation concluded at 4.16pm after firefighters confirmed the scene was safe.
