Maybank’s MAE App Hit By Major Glitch – Users Frustrated As Key Features Go Down

Date:

Maybank’s popular MAE app has been facing intermittent disruptions since earlier today, leaving many customers fuming as basic features like transfers, bill payments, and QR Scan & Pay stopped working despite the app’s message assuring otherwise.

Frustrated users flooded Maybank’s Facebook page, complaining about failed transactions and poor timing of the outage – especially for those relying on the app for daily cashless payments.

So far, no official statement has been issued by Maybank on the root cause or how long it will take to fix the problem.

UPDATE – 8 Sept 2025, 2:30PM
Checks on social media and user reports confirm that disruptions are affecting:

  • Secure2U authorisation
  • QR Payments
  • Fund transfers (including self-transfers to credit cards & loans)

In response, the bank temporarily switched to six-digit TAC codes sent as push notifications via the MAE app. SMS-based TACs remain unavailable, as they were phased out back in 2021.

While some online transfers are still functional, QR-based payments are facing widespread failures, particularly with merchants using Maybank accounts. Customers are urged to keep an alternative cashless option – or even some physical cash – handy to avoid awkward checkout moments.
