Johor Polls: EC Expects Full Election Results By 10pm On Saturday

Date:

The Election Commission (EC) expects to announce the full results of the Johor state election by around 10pm this Saturday, following the close of voting.

EC chairman Ramlan Harun said the commission’s upgraded results system would enable the complete outcome to be released at once, rather than providing seat-by-seat updates throughout the evening.

Speaking at a press conference after observing the early voting process at the Mahkota Army Camp on Tuesday, Ramlan expressed confidence that the new system would deliver faster and more efficient results.

He also encouraged all eligible Johor voters to fulfil their civic responsibility by casting their ballots on July 11, describing the election as an important opportunity for the public to participate in the country’s democratic process.

Meanwhile, Ramlan revealed that the EC is currently investigating 588 reports of alleged election offences. In addition, authorities have received 44 police reports and three reports lodged with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

A total of 2.73 million voters are eligible to cast their ballots in the Johor state election, including 24,751 police officers and members of the armed forces, who are taking part in the early voting process.
