Police have recorded statements from numerous individuals, including 10 students whose names went viral on social media, to assist investigations into the stabbing of a female student at a secondary school in Banting on Monday.
Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said investigations into the case are still ongoing and have yet to be fully completed, urging the public to allow investigators to carry out their duties before drawing any conclusions.
“Many statements have been recorded, including from 10 students whose names were circulated on social media and linked to the case.
“The investigation is still ongoing and has not been completed. I urge everyone to give investigators space to conduct a thorough probe before any conclusion is made,” he said during a press conference at the Selangor Police Contingent Headquarters on Thursday.
Shazeli said initial investigations found that the 15-year-old suspect was believed to have acted after harbouring dissatisfaction towards several individuals whom she claimed had bullied her.
However, he said statements obtained so far did not indicate that an actual bullying incident had taken place.
“The preliminary findings show that the reason given was related to dissatisfaction, or that the suspect had been keeping feelings towards several schoolmates whom she claimed had bullied her.
“However, the information gathered so far does not point towards bullying taking place,” he said.
He added that the victim’s condition is now stable and she is still receiving treatment and undergoing recovery at the hospital.
Shazeli also confirmed that police have interviewed the victim as part of the investigation process.
When asked whether the suspect’s actions were influenced by crime-related content on social media, he said the possibility was also being investigated as such content could potentially affect a person’s thoughts and behaviour.
He said police could not disclose details regarding the type of social media content involved as investigations are still ongoing.
Previously, several notes believed to have belonged to the suspect went viral on social media after the incident. The posts were believed to contain writings involving the suspect and several individuals.
The incident occurred at around 9.30am on Monday when a Form Three female student was injured after allegedly being attacked with a knife inside the school compound.
The suspect, who was reportedly absent from school for several months while receiving health treatment, was believed to have entered the school premises through the main entrance.
Kuala Langat district police chief Superintendent Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi previously said the suspect was remanded for four days until Friday to assist investigations under Section 307 of the Penal Code.
