The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning affecting several areas across six states and the Federal Territory of Labuan until 2pm on Friday (July 10).
In a statement, MetMalaysia said thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rain and strong winds are expected to occur in parts of Perak, involving Kerian, Bagan Datuk and Hilir Perak.
The weather warning also covers areas in Selangor, including Sabak Bernam and Kuala Selangor, as well as Jempol and Tampin in Negeri Sembilan.
In Melaka, the affected areas are Alor Gajah and Jasin, while Kota Tinggi in Johor is also expected to experience similar conditions.
Meanwhile, in Sabah, several areas have been placed under the warning, including Kuala Penyu and Beaufort in the Interior division.
Other affected locations in Sabah include Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran and Kota Belud in the West Coast division, as well as Kudat.
MetMalaysia advised the public to remain alert and take necessary precautions following the possibility of thunderstorms, heavy rainfall and strong winds in the affected areas.
