Police arrested a 50-year-old man and seized a pistol along with 36 live rounds during a raid on a house at Jalan Kampung Sireh last Saturday.
The operation, carried out at 5 a.m. by a team from the Special Investigation Branch (D9) of the Kelantan Criminal Investigation Department (CID) together with the D4 unit, led to the suspect’s arrest.
Kelantan Police Chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said the man has three prior criminal records and nine drug-related offenses.
“Urine screening showed he tested positive for methamphetamine,” he said in a statement today.
Investigations are being conducted under Section 8 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971, which carries a maximum sentence of 14 years’ imprisonment and no fewer than six strokes of the cane.
The suspect has been remanded for four days from September 7 until tomorrow under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
