Johor Voters May Face Wet Weather As Rain Forecast On Election Day

Date:

Several areas in Johor are expected to experience rain and thunderstorms tomorrow, coinciding with polling day for the state election, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

Based on the latest weather forecast published on MetMalaysia’s official website, morning rain is expected in Johor Bahru, Batu Pahat, Kulai, Muar, Pontian and Tangkak.

However, the six districts are not expected to experience rain in the afternoon or at night.

Meanwhile, Kluang, Kota Tinggi and Segamat are forecast to experience thunderstorms in the afternoon, while Mersing may see similar weather conditions from the afternoon until night.

Temperatures across most districts are expected to range between 23°C and 34°C, with maximum temperatures reaching around 33°C to 34°C.

The weather forecast comes as voters prepare to head to polling stations for the Johor state election, with the Election Commission (EC) previously projecting voter turnout to reach around 70 per cent.

Voting will begin at 8am, while closing times for polling centres will vary depending on location, with most centres scheduled to close at 6pm.

EC chairman Ramlan Harun said the earliest polling centre to close would be at Pulau Besar, located near Mersing, at 11am.

Polling centres at Pulau Aur and Pulau Pemanggil will close at noon, followed by 17 centres at 2pm, 42 centres at 4pm and 1,114 centres at 6pm.
