Khaled Nordin Casts Vote, Hopes For Strong Johor Government

Date:

Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin joked that choosing anyone other than Barisan Nasional (BN) in the Johor election would likely result in disciplinary action against him.

The Kota Tinggi Member of Parliament made the remark when asked by reporters to give a hint about his choice of candidate after casting his vote.

Khaled, who is also the Defence Minister, arrived at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Taman Rinting 1 polling centre at about 8.02am to fulfil his voting responsibility.

He said he hoped the voting process would proceed smoothly and lead to the formation of a stable state government that could focus on serving the people.

“I believe that regardless of the outcome, all parties must respect the decision to ensure the democratic process practised in this country continues to play its role in determining the government.

“Hopefully, after everything is completed, we will see an outcome that allows a strong and stable state administration to be formed,” he said.

Khaled added that the incoming Johor government should immediately focus on development efforts and improving the well-being of the people without wasting time.

He also revealed that between 16 and 18 members of his family were casting their votes in the Permas state constituency.
