A delivery driver has reported that his father-in-law’s car was stolen from a car wash in the city yesterday.
Muhammad Sharuddin Mat Masrol, 30, said the incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. while he and his wife were shopping at a supermarket in Pandan.
Less than half an hour after buying groceries, he returned to the car wash to collect the white Toyota Camry ACV40, registration number WTE8278, only to be told by the staff that the keys had already been handed over to a man.
“The staff said a man came to claim the keys and admitted he knew my friend. They explained it was a mistake as they were dealing with several customers at that time,” Muhammad Sharuddin told reporters.
He added that the car had just been released from a workshop after repairs, making the theft even more frustrating. “What’s disappointing is that the car wash has no CCTV system,” he said. He has urged anyone with information about the incident or the vehicle to contact him at 019-8283770.
South Johor Bahru District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat, confirmed the incident and said a police report has been filed.
