The decision by Bersatu’s youth wing, Armada, to endorse Bersatu President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as the 11th Prime Minister candidate must be respected by all component parties of Perikatan Nasional (PN).
Armada Information Chief Harris Idaham Rashid said the proposal, unanimously approved at Armada’s Annual General Assembly on September 6, will be submitted to the PN Presidential Council for final consideration. He added that the decision reflects not only strong support from the youth wing for Muhyiddin’s leadership but also aligns with the resolutions passed at Bersatu’s main AGM on September 7, 2025.
“Armada believes that nominating Tan Sri Muhyiddin as the 11th Prime Minister candidate represents the voice of the grassroots,” Harris said, adding that all PN component parties should respect the decision to maintain coalition unity.
Beyond leadership matters, Armada also announced the formation of the Armada Policy Advisory Council, a special committee comprising young professionals from diverse backgrounds. The council will be tasked with drafting policies related to youth issues, ensuring the younger generation’s voice is represented in national development.
Harris also revealed that a nationwide youth engagement tour will begin in October to strengthen interaction between the party and young Malaysians. “This program will provide a platform to hear the suggestions, views, and concerns of youth directly,” he said.
On disaster preparedness, Armada plans to bolster its flood response capabilities through the Armada Brigade by adding assets and operational equipment. “We want Armada to always be at the forefront in assisting the people during disasters,” Harris emphasized.
Politically, Armada is focusing on the upcoming Sabah State Election (PRN Sabah), with intensive ground operations planned in key constituencies. “Sabah is an important battleground for the party,” he said.
Harris concluded that the resolutions passed at this AGM demonstrate Armada’s commitment to being the driving force for youth while strengthening Bersatu’s position in facing current political challenges.
