Eight men aged between 23 and 31 were arrested during a joint anti-crime and anti-drug operation carried out at several locations across Bau district on Wednesday.

Bau District Police Chief Superintendent Mohd Haide A. Rahman said the integrated operation, conducted from 10.30am to 1pm, involved officers from the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division (NCID) and personnel from the Bau District Police Headquarters (IPD).
The operation covered Kampung Skiat Lama, Kampung Merembeh, Kampung Pangkalan Tebang, Kampung Tringgus and the NCID office in Bau.
According to Mohd Haide, four of the eight suspects were found in possession of one transparent plastic packet each containing crystal-like substances believed to be methamphetamine.
The four were arrested under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug possession.
He added that preliminary urine screening tests showed all eight suspects tested positive for drugs. They were also detained under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 to assist in the investigation.
Mohd Haide stressed that police will not compromise on drug-related offences and will continue intensifying enforcement operations to combat drug abuse and related criminal activities in the district.
