DBKL Seizes 15 Accounts Over Unpaid Assessment Tax At Flat Hicks

Date:

Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) carried out an assessment tax seizure operation involving 15 accounts with outstanding payments at Flat Hicks, also known as ‘Bund Shanghai’, along Jalan Changkat on Thursday.

The operation was conducted through the issuance of Detention Warrants (Form F) under the Local Government Act 1976 (Act 171) to recover unpaid assessment tax from property owners.

In a statement, DBKL said enforcement operations would continue at locations with outstanding assessment tax arrears as part of efforts to strengthen compliance with legal requirements.

DBKL also advised property owners to check their assessment tax account status and settle any outstanding payments immediately to avoid further enforcement action.

The local authority said such measures were necessary to ensure property owners fulfil their responsibilities and maintain compliance with existing regulations.

Previously, reports stated that DBKL could take legal action against the Joint Management Body (JMB) of Flat Hicks Bukit Bintang if it was found to have violated the regulations set by the authority.

Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Seri Fadlun Mak Ujud said DBKL had already issued two compounds related to cleanliness issues involving the building’s management.

DBKL had earlier carried out cleaning works at the premises and issued notices as well as compounds to the JMB following complaints over the condition of the building.

Flat Hicks gained public attention after a video uploaded by an Australian YouTube content creator showed the rundown and unhygienic condition of the residential area, sparking discussions among social media users.
