Perikatan Nasional (PN) is confident that its cooperation with Barisan Nasional (BN), which it described as a “blue wave”, could lead to victory in the Negeri Sembilan state election on Aug 1.
Parti Wawasan Negara (WAWASAN) president Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, who is fielding four candidates under the PN logo alongside seven other coalition candidates, said the confidence was based on the strong support shown towards the cooperation on social media platforms.
Hamzah said the sentiment among PN supporters ahead of the Negeri Sembilan election was stronger compared with the coalition’s experience during the Johor state election.
“We can see a stronger feeling and determination to achieve victory in Negeri Sembilan this time.
“This is because we are not only placing our candidates strategically in selected constituencies, but BN has also not fielded candidates in the areas where we are contesting and vice versa,” he said.
He said public reactions on social media over the past few days showed that many voters viewed the cooperation between PN and BN as something they had been waiting for.
Hamzah also expressed hope that BN would be able to repeat the success achieved during the Johor state election, where the coalition formed the state government.
He said PN and BN are aiming to take over the Negeri Sembilan state administration through their cooperation.
“Insya-Allah, we can achieve a major victory with the same objective. BN and PN represent the colour blue, while PH and Bersatu represent red. It appears that this election will see a blue wave rising against the red current,” he said.
Meanwhile, PAS vice-president Datuk Idris Ahmad said the Negeri Sembilan election could become a starting point for PN and its partners to achieve greater success in the next general election.
He said the cooperation that began in Johor had continued to grow in Negeri Sembilan and could eventually lead towards Putrajaya in the future.
Idris added that feedback on social media indicated strong support for the cooperation between PN and BN.
Previously, PN announced that it would contest 11 seats in the Negeri Sembilan state election, while BN would contest the remaining 25 seats, completing the 36-seat state assembly line-up.
